The Dystopian Apple Vision Pro Divides, Distorts, and Deludes Us More Than Ever

I recently tried Apple Vision Pro so I could understand what all the hype was about. I was super-impressed by the demo process in the Apple Store, and had a profound experience there.

But it raised many questions, and in the subsequent weeks and months, I wrote those questions into an article that Mind Matters News published in two parts.

We all must be continually reminded how reality is under attack today, and that our technology is one of the primary vectors of reality distortion. And yet we continue to enthusiastically adopt and even defend the very tech that is contributing to our inability to know what’s right, true, and real.

A few quotes from the articles to inspire you to read them:

What we do for hours at a time shapes us. Think of practicing a musical instrument or playing a sport. Our practices become habits, and change us. We are “transformed by the renewing of our minds” by “presenting our bodies as living sacrifices.” Our minds are renewed (for good or ill) wherever we “sacrifice” our bodies (through hours of practice).

What happens when people perceive reality differently? It seems like our painfully divided culture will be even more fractured, leading to more loneliness, mental health problems, and political stalemates.

Many dystopian stories describe what happens when an elite few view the rest of the world as “unhumans.” We’re quick to see people different than us as “those other people.” They just “don’t get it.” We’re enlightened. They’re not.

After all this time in unreality, will the heavens still declare the glory of God? Or will the “still small voice” become too small after we’re tuned in to the artificial spatially enhanced voices?
