Back To School: Not Back To Porn

For many families, back to school means back to screens. As more schools foolishly embrace the marketing of ed-tech companies, our kids are more enmeshed in screen time during the school day. But giving kids screens in school isn’t improving their ability to think and learn. And worse, every screen is an opportunity to expose kids to pornography.

Back at home, it’s normal to give kids mobile devices earlier and earlier, despite the studies that show tragically damaging effects.

In our screen-saturated world, there are more and more ways for our kids to see pornography. Porn is devastating to everyone, but especially to kids. We need to do whatever we can to help our kids avoid it. Even more importantly, we need to help them feel safe talking with us when they see porn so we can help them break free from its effects.

My friends at Covenant Eyes shared an important article every parent should read: 10 Ways Your Kids Could See Porn Without You Knowing. Yes, school laptops are on the list. Please read the article, find out what to do, and take action.

Mom, Dad: it’s up to us to be counter-cultural. We don’t need to surrender our kids to the predators lurking behind screens. We can be different. May it start with us, today.
